Fig-tastic Fusion: 'Snickers' Dates

Posted by Nick Sheridan on

But why figs, you ask? Why mess with a perfectly creamy, divinely salty cashew butter? Well, my curious monkeys, that's where the magic unfolds. Figs, those jewel-toned beauties, aren't just eye candy. They're bursts of honeyed sweetness, earthy complexity, and a subtle, almost smoky depth that dances perfectly with the cashew's creamy richness and the sea salt's playful bite. It's a flavour tango, a textural symphony, a culinary adventure that will leave you begging for more.

Here are just a few ways to unleash the fig & cashew magic:

  • Appetiser Extravaganza: Toast baguette slices, slather them with our creamy spread, and top with juicy fig slices, a drizzle of balsamic glaze, and a sprinkle of walnuts.

  • Salad Sensation: Transform your lunch break with a fig and cashew salad. Toss mixed greens, crumbled goat cheese, and sliced figs with a vinaigrette made with cashew butter, olive oil, lemon juice, and a hint of honey. The creamy dressing, tangy goat cheese, and sweet figs will have you singing hallelujah with every bite.

  • Pizza Party Revolution: Forget pepperoni, forget pineapple, the ultimate pizza topping has arrived! Spread a thin layer of cashew butter on your pizza dough, top with sliced figs, crumbled blue cheese, and a drizzle of honey. Bake to perfection and prepare to be blown away by the salty-sweet, creamy-cheesy, figgy explosion in your mouth.

  • Dessert Dreams: Figs and cashew butter are nature's answer to decadent desserts. Roast figs with a dollop of cashew butter, a sprinkle of cinnamon, and a drizzle of honey for a warm, gooey treat that's both healthy and heavenly. Or, whip up a batch of fig and cashew blondies for a chewy, satisfying snack that's sure to impress even the pickiest monkey.

The Beauty of Simplicity:

But don't get overwhelmed, monkeys. Sometimes, the best things in life are the simplest. For a pure taste of fig and cashew nirvana, grab a spoon, open a jar of our Salted Cashew Butter, and slice into those plump, juicy figs. It's a flavour explosion all on its own, a perfect marriage of sweet and salty, creamy and crunchy. It's a snack that's low in effort, high in satisfaction, and guaranteed to leave you smiling like a satisfied monkey.

FIG and CASHEW BUTTER version of 'Snickers Dates'

Here is our simple recipe for the classic dessert known as 'Snickers Dates'. Instead of dates we use dried FIGS and we pair them with our Salted Cashew Butter.

Imagine the creamy richness of our cashew butter, infused with a hint of sea salt, meeting the honeyed sweetness and jammy texture of a perfectly ripe fig. It's a burst of sunshine on your tongue, a flavour explosion that's both familiar and exciting.

But why figs? These little jewels of nature aren't just delicious; they're packed with history and symbolism. In ancient Greece, they were considered a symbol of love and fertility. In the Middle East, they're a staple food, enjoyed fresh, dried, or even preserved in honey. And here at 99th Monkey, we're embracing their versatility and showcasing their magic in a whole new way.

RECIPE

Ingredients

  • Dried figs
  • 99th Monkey Salted Cashew Butter

The Perfect Pairing:

So, what makes this combination so special? It's all about the way the flavours complement each other. The creamy cashew butter, with its subtle sweetness and salty edge, provides a luxurious base for the figs' honeyed sweetness and delicate texture. The chewiness of the fig adds a satisfying contrast to the smooth cashew spread, while the saltiness of the cashew butter enhances the fig's natural sweetness. It's a dance of yin and yang, a perfect harmony of tastes that leaves you wanting more.
